Shopify Integration with selecdoo (Custom App)

selecdoo is connected via a Shopify Custom App. The integration is handled entirely within the Shopify admin area and does not require any additional app from the Shopify App Store. This keeps the setup lightweight, controllable, and GDPR-compliant.

To enable the integration, a Custom App is created in the Shopify Developer Dashboard. This app provides selecdoo with the required API access to process order, customer, and tracking information correctly.

After the setup is completed, the Client ID and Client Secret are stored in selecdoo. The technical activation and final connection are then completed by selecdoo.

Requirements for the Integration

The following access rights are required to set up the Shopify integration:

  • Access to the Shopify admin area
  • Permission to create Custom Apps
  • Access to the Shopify Developer Dashboard

Integration Guide

  • In Shopify, navigate to Settings > Apps > Develop apps.
  • Click Build apps to open the Dev Dashboard.
  • In the Dev Dashboard, click Create app and select the option Start from Dev Dashboard. Set an app name and confirm by clicking Create.
  • Open the newly created app and configure the following settings. Set the App URL to . This URL is used for display purposes only within the Shopify admin area. Select the latest available API version.
  • Configure the following API scopes:
  • read_script_tags, write_script_tags, read_customers, and read_orders.
  • After completing the configuration, click Release and confirm the release dialog. Then navigate to Home > Install app and install the app for the store.
  • Within the Custom App, open Settings and copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
  • These credentials must be provided to selecdoo. The final connection and activation of the integration are handled by selecdoo.

Setup Checklist

The integration is considered successfully completed when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The Shopify Custom App has been created, released, and installed
  • The latest Shopify API version is active
  • All required API scopes are configured
  • Client ID and Client Secret have been provided to selecdoo
  • The app is visible as active in the Shopify Dev Dashboard

Security Notes

The Custom App grants selecdoo read-only access to anonymized data and write access only to script tags required for tracking. No shop settings are modified, and no products, customer data, or prices are changed or accessed as clear data.

Final Notes

After the app is installed and the Client ID and Client Secret have been provided, no further action is required in the Shopify admin area. The integration runs entirely in the background and can be reviewed or disabled at any time in the Shopify Developer Dashboard.
