What is SCR / What does the abbreviation SCR mean?

At selecdoo, the abbreviation SCR sometimes appears in reports and analyses. It stands for Sale Conversion Rate and describes the conversion rate.

The conversion rate shows how many clicks on an ad actually lead to a transaction. It is expressed as a percentage and calculated as follows:

Conversion Rate (SCR) = Number of Sales ÷ Number of Clicks × 100

Example:

  • 1,000 clicks on an ad
  • 50 sales
  • Result: Conversion Rate (SCR) = 5%

The SCR is an important metric for both advertisers and publishers to assess the success of campaigns:

  • Advertisers can see how well their ads are performing.
  • Publishers can identify which campaigns are particularly effective.

Why can the SCR appear unusually high?

In some cases, the conversion rate (SCR) in the selecdoo system may look disproportionately high. This often happens when publishers generate sales mainly through coupons.

Here’s why:

  • A coupon is redeemed, but often no click via the affiliate link occurs.
  • The sale is still tracked correctly.
  • The number of sales rises, but the number of clicks stays the same or doesn’t increase proportionally.

The result is an apparently very high conversion rate. This is not a system error but simply a consequence of the calculation method.
